Is there something you do in your institution or practice setting that builds trust between you and your patients, your physician peers, or other patient care collaborators? If so, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Foundation wants to hear from you.
The ABIM Foundation is looking to close the health care “trust gap” and promote medical professionalism by identifying practices that foster transparency, trust, and trustworthiness, such as:
disclosure of medical errors and subsequent apologies;
guarantees of quality service levels; and
endorsement of clinicians during care transitions.
Through this initiative, the ABIM Foundation hopes to assemble a compendium of replicable and scalable practices that have helped build or rebuild trust in various aspects of the health care system.
As part of its commitment to uphold the public trust, the ABO strongly supports the development of practices that encourage a culture of transparency through the measurement and continuous improvement of patient outcomes and experiences.
To enter the ABIM Foundation Trust Practice Challenge, complete the submission form (pdf), using one form per entry. You may provide a maximum of three practices. All questions are required; incomplete entries will not be considered. Please adhere to word-count limits for each questions.
